…what side of the line…

Monday, September 12th, 2005

What side of the line are you with the hard layer that forms when you chill pudding or jello in the fridge?
Do you like it?
Does it bother you?
Do you even like pudding or jello?

I am almost done with the second robot - he works in the teashop. I am getting faster which is good, since I have a bunch to do now!! And a new design - a bird bot.

…can’t let go…

Friday, September 9th, 2005

This new girl is pushing her way out of my head. I have never experienced anything quite like it. I have been searching for her - my girl, my alter ego I guess, but now I find her everywhere. I sculpt her, I paint her, I sketch her like crazy and it comes relatively easy. Like this girl is helping me, but I don't know the catalyst. Well I sort of do, she is basically the childhood version of me. The fragile sad girl that needed wings to get away. And now she is, getting out I mean. I am not squashing her voice and it is ringing in my head like a beautiful sad song. I would love to know what you think….

…bring your pet to blog #3…

Thursday, September 8th, 2005

The amazing girls over at port2port started the pet thing and the new 'truth spy' (which I will get to later), but first my pet. Well not my pet, one of my boss’s pets, Buddy. He is quite a character and now is a bit chubby (this is an oldish photo), because he has been sneaking kitten food like crazy. lightbuddy.jpg So I went to see Over the Rhine last night and it was a late great night. They had two opening acts: Stephanie Dosen who had such an angelic voice contrasted with a mouth like a sailors. She was hilarious. She looks like a little pixie then she opens her mouth and makes you laugh. I was really glad we got to the show early, just to see her. Then there was Kim Taylor who was really mellow, yet she rocked. The Boy was excited because she was playing on a new brand of guitar that her has heard about, Reverend, and he was glad to know that it sounded good! She had a throaty sort of voice with electric guitar, can't get better than a rocker chick! Over the Rhine plays great live. And my favorite song is Born whose lyrics pierce my heart: I was born to laugh learned to laugh through my tears They have such melancholy lyrics that Karin Bergquist sings sweetly into my soul with this lush musical sound, even if there isn't lots instruments playing. Linford Detweiler weaves beauty and grace. My 'truth spy' (they haven't really named it yet) is this: Walking to work, running late because I have been having insomnia lately and I am really tired in the mornings and I walked by this man walking his son to school and he had a t-shirt on that made me stop in my tracks and turn around to watch him walk. TIME IS AN INVENTION interesting…..

…productive weekend…

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

The weekend was pretty productive - considering I had three days that is probably a good thing. I finished my little white robot; his story is still to come. I also worked on the sad girls. I gave the beige girl some more shoulders, and the first girl I did as well. I also tried kind of a funky green girl. I gave her some wild hair, but I think her head is too small. Something about the wide face is attractive to me. I can't wait for more colors…what do you think? three.jpg I am a bit sleep deprived, so my eyes feel heavy, but my favorite band, Over the Rhine, is in town and I missed them last time they performed in the city. I am going to make it. I have a painting in my head, so I'll work on that after work until the boy comes and gets me for dinner. I bet I will sleep well tonight.

…let sleep fall on me…

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

The Boy and I have different sleep patterns. And he usually comes and tucks me in bed after I fall asleep reading a book. I love that time. When sleep has come and I sort of dream him coming to kiss me goodnight. But tonight I have insomnia and I was wondering what people out there in the web world do. I am going to do some sketching, but any tricks….

…robot going into quarantine…

Tuesday, September 6th, 2005

I realized that I need to get going on my robots for the This Is Not Art show down in Australia at the end of the month. So I sewed all weekend and finished the first robot. A white one that is going to be in a quarantined room with all white creations, until they pass and go to live in the outside world.
I don’t have a story for him yet, not even a name. I just needed to finish. So without delay:

…little girls…

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

I have been working on these little girls. And I would like some feedback. I like them just one color body and hair, with just paint on the eyes and mouth. This one is about two inches tall. And she fits snugly in the palm of your hand. What could be improved? Any suggestions or ideas? quite.jpg
