You could spend hours inside the Manhattan Fruit Exchange. Spend a little bit of time in front of each fruit or vegetable. Start at the back with the potatos and leeks and the other roots, then move through mushrooms, greens and into the fruit itself - citrus, apples, out towards the front door, ending with the stone fruits. Pictures would be nice. Or pie ideas. Or just some thoughts inspired by your prolonged exposure to produce.

lisa s - major art spots...love that idea...I think I might head to the lions at the library

johanna - I have never been to ellis island, and I think maybe I could see it with really fresh eyes!

jessica - that would be fun, and give me an email when you are free to go to the show...out of town this weekend though...

lisa - any thoughts?

michelle - I haven't been up to the empire state buliding in ages...great idea, thanks for stopping by!

shari - I love doors...and passageways and stairs...the idea that they all are leading to somewhere you don't know.

gracia - total envy watching the show...they looked like they were having such an amazing life changing time.

namaga - thank you for stopping by and you nice words!

shona - I love they idea of a motercyle and side car, and I agree - north america seemed squished. But I was more than happy to see so much of parts of the world I never really think about...love the idea of street vendors...thanks

janel - hidden beauty...thank you, there IS a lot to find here

stylebits - wow prague...such a beautiful place...looks as though it belongs in the pages of a fairy tale. thanks for stopping by

daphne - we'll have to set up a trip around the city...maybe instead of a sketchcrawl, we can do a photocrawl...

gwen - I have only been to DC once and it was such an easy trip...jumped on the train...and walked into my american history class from high school...

Just discovered your blog through AbbyTrysAgain. :-)

If you like that book you'll love Tales of a Female Nomad. Check it out!

It inspired me and now I live in Prague. I wouldn't be here without it. Honest.

Once, a long time ago when I lived in Queens, I saw a single pink rose delicately placed on a huge pile of garbage in front of a deli. I would have given anything to have had a camera with me. So my humble suggestion is "Hidden Beauty"...you certainly have an eye for it and I think it would be a fun thing to look for.

Long Way Round was so wonderful, I hated to see the adventure end, but it seemed that in the last stretch though North America they tried to cram too much into 1 hour. My boyfriend + I often dream about a motorcycle (w/ side car) trip through Europe or China.

I am fond of processes, series, daily rituals, if you will. I have never been to NYC so I'm not quite sure what to suggest. Street food venders holding your robot or penguin? It might challenge you the way asking a cop to hold your softies on Coney Island did.

Good luck with your assignment, I look forward to seeing it unfold.

Ooh, I'll put my thinking cap on - how exciting. I'm all for Lisa's suggested tour of NY art spots... I've never been there! And as to the Long Way Round, I repeatedly watch it on dvd to relax... (with a little bit of envy thrown in too).
take care, g

I think that taking along a penguin on your trip, whatever it be, would be a cute idea. I have seen this done before a few times, but it is great to see a repetitive figure going all over the place! I would love to see you visit the empire state building and take pictures of the trip there and took creative pictures using the angles of the building.

I love all of the ideas so far!
