for this painting I am going to walk away, or rather utilize the computer. There are some elements missing. Something needed. I have some ideas for what that something should be, but I wanted to test first with photoshop. I am going to start on some other paintings. I made some good headway with a sketch that has been swirling in my head.
we did see art shows…five over two nights. which makes it seem doable, until I tell you that we saw four on saturday…in wildly different la neighborhoods. By the end of the night we were pretty done with art, but I am really glad we had a chance to see it all. {can't say the same for my fellow travelers}
thinkspace had a crazy huge group show…and I was excited to be looking at the packed walls to happen upon camilla's work. I didn't realize that she would be there. Her stuff rocks. The Boy really like nicholas diGenova. His ink work was really really amazing. I think I might want to try and go back, because there was an overwhelming amount of work there.
saturday we saw tinlark, a new gallery at the crossroads of the world. they have a really awesome space and the artwork was political, but not overtly so. I guess I am saying it still stayed beautiful with its message. I think my favorite there was nancy baker cahill.
then we jumped (we'll not really jumped - more like crawled from all the traffic) to nucleus gallery because I really wanted to see jaime zollars. I have been a huge fan of her work for some time now. I love the fairy tale element. The slight danger in these beautiful pieces. Plus jaime is really cool in person.
At this point we almost gave up, because I went the absolute wrong way. But then we rallied and headed down to the final two galleries, which thankfully happened to be literally a couple blocks away from one another.
project: and corey helford.
By then we were all on art over load. But I really love seeing what is out there. what people are creating in the world. Some beautiful stuff to be sure.

One of your fellow travelers can say that he was glad to see all the galleries; especially the brilliant ones that he picked out that were WAY better than all the other ones (so there!).
So much so, that I’m going to 1988 on Tuesday. (So there x 2!)

I’ve been coming to this site for over a month and I’ve never been able to see the pictures. Today I was finally able to see the whole blog. I love it. Great artwork and I love the guy who does the sign art (name…David? Something?)
